Windermere Steamboat Museum
R G Parkins & Partners Ltd are working with Thomas Armstrong Construction to fulfil the Contractor Design elements of the contract for the reconstruction of the Windermere Steamboat Museum. Part of that package is the design of new timber jetties for the museum and a new slipway/ jetty which is now being installed. The precast concrete slipway deck is supported on a grid of structural steelwork in turn supported on tubular steel piles. The 356 diameter steel piles are driven 10-12 m into the lake bed and support the steel superstructure via a node and pin arrangement which allow for precise line and levelling as the installation proceed from the land outwards. Completion is expected by Christmas 2016.
