Guiding light repair
Following a strike from a passing vessel early in 2016, this historic lighthouse at Plover Scar in the Lune estaury is undergoing repair by MPM North West Ltd of Maryport. The lighthouse was constructed by local contractor Charles Blades in 1847, after which he was involved in the construction of other notable buildings in Lancaster such as the Ripley Hospital, Royal Albert Asylum and the Storey Institute, all of which have been tended to by R G Parkins & Partners Ltd in recent years.
