Solar Panels

In the past 3 months, we have been involved in numerous projects relating to the installation of solar panels on existing roofs. It seems this simple means to energy generation is becoming increasingly popular.

Although planning permission may not always be required, the addition of solar panels will cause an increase in the dead load of the roof structure. As such, the existing roof structure will normally require a check to satisfy Part A of The Building Regulations. This is to ensure that the structural members forming the roof do not become over stressed and that the overall stability of the roof is not compromised.

See the planning portal for more information and please feel free to contact us if you have any queries.
